CERTIFICATION OF COMPUTER TRAINEES

Dear Partners EAGLES YOUTH DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE was established in 2002 and a registered as community based organization (Reg. No. WCBO/058/08) committed to empowerment of young people in Uganda. It is located 32 km northeast Kampala along Kampala –Gayaza- Zirobwe road (Kiwenda trading centre), currently we are conducting among others computer training for vulnerable girls to enhance their potential for ICT employment opportunity and Entrepreneurship for life to survive and fight vulnerability, thus overcoming the barriers that prevent them from reaching   their  social and economic needs.   Am posting this to request for your support and participation in certification/graduation ceremony for successful computer trainees that is scheduled to take place on 28th.January.2017 at Kamanyi Primary School. This ceremony is one of psycho-social interventions to restore hope among girls who dropped out of school due to social and economic challenges in their families that

REDUCING TEENAGE PREGNANCY THROUGH SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Teenage pregnancy refers to pregnancy of a woman of less than 19 years. It is found commonly amongst young people who have been disadvantaged and have poor expectations with regard to either their education or job market. Uganda has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in Sub-Saharan Africa at over 25%. By 17 years of age, 43.3% of adolescent girls have begun child bearing and by 19 years, over 70.8% of adolescent girls have given birth or are pregnant with their first child (UDHS 1995). Regionally, the rate of teenage pregnancy is 30.6% for East Central Uganda, 30.3% for Eastern, 29.7% for Karamoja, 26.4% for West Nile and 25.6% for the North (Ending Teenage Pregnancy – UNFPA, 2012). Even if defilement is a capital offence by the laws of Uganda, most of the marriages are sanctioned by parents.
