BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENUERSHIP SKILLS

Am Nakidde Asia aged 18 years completed S.6 in 2017  at Answar Secondary School- Kasangati and also Peer Educator Eagles Youth Development Initiative located in Kiwenda Ward, Busukuma Division, Wakiso District- Uganda.
On 21/08/2017, I was among the team selected for an entrepreneurship and business skills training program me at Lweza Training Centre under Eagles youth development initiative and we managed to acquire knowledge and skills on how to handle the business department. Eagles youth development initiative is on profit making organization that was founded by a young people in 2002 it is a fully registered community based organization committed to empowerment of young people in Uganda. It goal is empowered young people with sustainable entrepreneurship skill contributing to the process of national HIV/AIDS response resulting into zero new infection and access decent social and health services.
In the course of training managed to achieve the following tips concerning  business management , I managed to acquire various steps employed so as to develop and exercise present entrepreneurship skills that will help in the day to day  business habits for a business to be successful the owner should have the qualities of a good entrepreneur at hand like being adaptive ,president , Hardworking ,confidence and optimization. Besides the marketing manager also took or to the field and observed the way agent and sales persons deal with the selling process .In the process we managed acquire the marketing skills ,financial and production skills for example efforts to identify and satisfy customers needs and wants . It involves finding out who your business customer s are, what do they need , the price and finding out the level of competition. Besides I also managed to acquire skills of drafting a business plan and a cash flow statement. With this in mind helped the club to develop a business plan for EYDI which helps to test the feasibility and viability of the business attract investors and enables us to acquire
a loan . It was discovered that the course of defining sale in EYDI was as a result of un attractive and unskilled sales person, poor relationship between sellers and customers, high product price and choice of wrong modes of delivering to customers However the training helped us to think wide and also developed an idea on making books and this is to be put into effective production from capital owned from member’s contribution and there who wish to invest in the business for successful venture.
I wish to acknowledge support and guidance from Executive Director EYDI Mr. Musoke Twahah and DSW Uganda for training offered and supporting our meeting regularly.

  Eagles Youth Development Initiative was formed in 2002 by a group of young people  and  is a registered non -profit making organization, committed to empower  children,  adolescents and women in Uganda to  improve access to menstrual health education and products, sanitation and hygiene facilities among others. The year 2022, we  launched" The Period Pride campaign "  aims to support 10,000 girls and young women in hard to reach areas like Bussi Island, Uganda  with reusable pads, menstrual education and information.  Many  girls and women  in rural areas  do have limited access to hygienic menstrual products and poor sanitation infrastructure undermining the education opportunities, health and their social status thus limiting them to reach their full potential.   The are no  schools  based funded  or  underfunded menstrual  health education programs . ‎ Therefore,  we are mobilizing resources to save girls and young women on the Island for better tomorrow.
