INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2020
Theme: "I am
Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”
The year 2020 is a year for advancing
gender equality on Bussi Island Uganda and worldwide and, as we take stock of
progress made for women’s rights since the adoption of the Beijing Platform for
Action. It will also mark several other stimulating flashes in the gender
equality drive towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals; 1,2,3,4,5,6, & 8.
The
International Women’s Day; this is a day on which the role and importance of
women is focused on and also when mistreatment of women or violations of
women’s rights are addressed. Key stakeholders emphasizes the various services
it provides for women and encourage women to get a higher education and to work
towards meeting important life goals.
There are
many women’s rights issues on the Islands of Bussi, like widespread domestic
violence, sexual exploitation and abuse against women. In fact, around half of
all women have suffered some form of domestic violence from their husband or
partner. Also, many women suffer from awful poverty and have little opportunity
to get a good education; Estimates
say that more than 50% of Ugandan women have endured domestic violence at the
hands of their partners.
EYDI has developed
projects to attempt to improve the situation of women in Bussi Island, Uganda, East
Africa but these efforts, are still subject to funding to materialize.
Our
team is commit to mobilize funds to strengthen
programmes that focus on empowering schools,
families and communities in creating safe spaces for girls and women on Island
to have access to education, health care and economically secure, family and
community benefit too.
Therefore
we will be part of the Pr-events Community
Dialogue on Gender Equality and Rights for Young Women and Girls on 6TH.
at Katwe Playground In Kampala and International
Women's Day 2020 celebrations in Mbale Eastern Uganda to feel for all the women
and families "affected by different negative defects of climate change
especially women, girls and the children , we shall show case off with a March.
