EAGLES YOUTH DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE
(EY.DI)
is a non-profit making organization that was founded by a young people in 2002.
It is fully registered community based organization. (Reg.No.
WCBO/058/08) committed to empowerment of young people in Wakiso district. We are located 32 km northeast Kampala along Kampala –Gayaza- Zirobwe road
Kiwenda trading centre, Kiwenda Cell, Busukuma Division Wakiso District.
We work in partnership with government, private sector and civil Society Organization to empower and strengthen young
people to take active responsibility for life to shape their destiny. We are passionate about creating
positive change on a wide range of issues affecting young people though prevention of Violence against children and women, SRHR, ICT training and Environment adaptation and mitigation.To that end we conduct community and school outreaches, radio programs, and,
HIV counseling and testing, safe male circumcision, Computer Training through our ICT Facility in Kiwenda-Wakiso District.
GOAL: Empowered young
people with sustainable entrepreneurship skills contributing to the process of
National HIV/AIDS responses resulting into zero new infections and access to
decent social and health services.

resulting into zero new infection through
scaling up access to quality Sexual Reproductive health services for social and
economic well-being.

SPECIFIC
OBJECTIVES
- To establish a well furnished ICT and Vocational training facility nurturing young people with relevant ICT, Entrepreneurship and technical skills for sustainable income.
- Advocating for parent-teacher/ community engagement to discuss child learning outcomes and providing care, support and creating a safe learning environment for children living with HIV/AIDS.
- To increase community understanding about power and its relationship to sexual gender based violence and alcohol abuse that put partners at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS and having unplanned pregnancies.
- To raise awareness on misconception about prevention of violence against children and biomedical HIV prevention contributing free HIV generation.
- To advocate for community responses against mismanagement of funds disbursed to primary school and health centers that affect the quality of education and health services through creating a corrupt free society increasing children school retention rates.
- To advocate for youth and women meaningful participation in leadership and decision making processes especially on issues that affect them.
AREAS
OF OPERATION
EYDI
runs an ICT skills training Facility and counseling center at Kiwenda in Busukuma
Division of Wakiso District and conduct mobile outreach camps in partnership
with development partners and we wish to conduct continuous recruitment,
assessment vocational skills training of the young people.
INTERVENTIONS
1. Sexual Gender Based Violence Prevention through advocating for gender equality; EYDI conducts community outreaches through facilitates gender dialogues and
support gender aware and gender transformation aimed at
achieving gender equality.

2. Strengthening Child
Protection and Child Participation
EYDI
promotes an environment that keeps children safe through raising awareness on
child protection and improving child protection reporting
mechanisms. To promote child participation, we create spaces for
children to express their views through forums such as community child reading
competition, school outreach, Home visit, play, drama, music and poems.
Every year the organization actively supports participation of children
in the Day of the African Child, the UN Day of the Girl Child and Women`s Day
through which children are able to talk about their concerns, rights and
responsibilities.

3.Women and Youth
Economic Empowerment through vocational training
This involves supporting vocational,
entrepreneurial and business skills training for the youth in order to increase
their employable opportunities. In addition, community and youth groups are
trained in financial literacy and purposeful saving for enterprise development .

4. Strengthening Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Services
E.Y.D supports role model parents, teachers
and adolescents to conduct outreaches to discuss risky sexual behaviors, the
dangers of teenage pregnancies and the value of education. These outreaches are
raising the level of awareness on key adolescent sexual reproductive health
issues that affect young people and how to avoid them.

As
a strategy to reach more young people with information on ASRH, the program
conducts outreaches in areas of Busukuma division and beyond. It is a
deliberate attempt to take services closer to the beneficiaries especially
those who find it difficult to come to the health facility. Some of the
outreaches are conducted in organized communities such as schools and
organizations, and others are conducted in hard to reach areas in the division. During these outreaches, service providers
use various methods to pass on the information to young people. The methods
include: group discussions, viewing educational films, infotainment,
distributing of IEC materials and question and answer sessions among others.
And in some outreaches medical services are also provided in addition to HCT.
This is done in partnership with other organizations and health centers.
5. Transparency and good governance
Promoting
transparency and accountability in Primary school and health center. This is
aimed at building the capacity of community responses against mismanagement of
public funds disbursed to primary school and Health centers. Citizens are
empowered to monitor and report suspected misuse of public funds under ‘’ It’s My money its My Responsibility”
6. Advocating for access to safe water, sanitation
and environment conservation
EYDI is contributing to improved access to
safe water, sanitation and hygiene through raising awareness on dangers of
drinking untreated or boiled water and training of communities on hygiene and
sanitation. Through the home/ school visits, we conduct sanitation awareness campaign,
we encourage every household and school to have a latrine and to practice
hand-washing. Coupled with the daily and menstrual hygiene management, we
emphasize the importance of menstrual hygiene and support girls to girls face
regarding menstrual hygiene management.
EYDI raises awareness on climate change
mitigation and Adaptation through promoting tree planting in homes and schools.
This creates communities that are better prepared for and are more resilient to
the effects of climate change.

organization that abide by values, objectives and regulations of the
organization, and children, women and youth development at heart, an aspiring
member fill application forms, willing to volunteer, adhere to EYDI’s code of conduct, show willingness to
share information and opportunities that will improve EYDI activities, pay
annual membership fee as per membership categories as follows; Individual,
Silver, Gold, Bronze and Associate membership open to International organizations
and Professional Associations interested in working with us.
